5 Pieces of Fiction Media that Influenced You as a Writer and Why? I don't consume enough fiction to be able to do this so I gotta broaden the scope
I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream by Harlan Ellison Most of the time, the only fiction I enjoyed in school was sci-fi. It's the only thing that remains with me today at least. Harlan Ellison is such a jackass and boy does that show through I Have No Mouth and everything surrounding it: his interviews, the computer game, the guide he wrote to the game that's really just a book version of the short story. Ted is like peak Hibiya in the way that if the reader is blind enough to believe that he's telling the truth, then they aren't getting any of the story. And I just love honestly how angry that story is without being... too whiny? I wouldn't say there's anything subtle about it, but it keeps drawing you forward for sure. Also just how Harlan writes I can relate to a lot. Which is a big one.
The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch (painting) I'm not one for art. I just. It's nice. Cool whatever wow I'm so impressed. So seeing this in Madrid I think, after having to go to a billion other art museums and being really tired of it, stumbling on this as a final room to poke our head into is such a pleasant memory I have. Going from feeling very whelmed with my mother, and we're suddenly both like. Man what the fuck am I looking at. I wrote multiple songs about this piece. I bought miniatures inspired by this piece. I would gladly get it tattooed on me when I decide what and where and by whom.
It's such a great level of absurdity that isn't offensive in a jarring "make you think" bullshit way. Maybe it's because when I think of absurdity, I think of films from the 20's. But this painting has more of a through line so like, it still makes sense. So I don't know, something about it gives me a lot of muse.
Dead Kennedies (band) This might be one that also mainly inspires me more as a song writer than an rp'er. But it's again Jello Biafra playing with the skewed perspective of the author, which is apparently how I get my rocks off. You're supposed to hate him. He dawns this mask of a rich prep, or politician, or people you hate but really with a second of introspection you realize that's also you, and he just says the quiet stuff loudly. And musically Dead Kennedies is just fucking spooky with their bassline. So it really inspires keeping that core motivation for Hibi as me, and bringing forward those quiet parts of them that ruin the illusion sometimes.
Fantasia (movie) I can't pick between Gershwin, Tchaikovsky, and Stravinsky, so fuck it. Fantasia is what introduced me to them and that's what matters. I will always love and be inspired by Fantasia/Fantasia 2000. Everyone's got a Disney movie, and that's mine. I can't listen to Rhapsody in Blue without picturing it, or Rite of Spring without seeing the ballet. It just. Fucks me up the way you want classical music to. With writing though, it's the meaning and inspiration behind those pieces and composers that inspire me. They all ride such big waves and are so contrarian to what's expected from them in the music hall. There's just no way I don't also see Hibi falling in love with them and digging that "I'll do what you want, but under my own rules."
Historical/Period dramas None specifically. Just the widest net I can cast here lol. But really, watching any really inspire me to come up with new plots and different ways people around Hibi would act. Which is something I really struggle with, so it's an amazing resource, you know, human history. But it's also like, a really fun lens to put on your muse, and think about them through the eras. Personally, it helps develop them more, and understand the things in their life that make them unique and how they would change if those little things didn't happen. I'm also just such a slut for Titanic.

#this is where i expose my balls on stream for being an edgelord#but thats what makes hibi so fun and unique. is adding those hints of punk in them#less so with hibiya at times. but it becomes this flavor of rebellion thats not just a temper tantrum#ooc;#mun#dash meme#honorable mention: Supertramp

18. The Cars
19. Bon Jovi
20. The Rolling Stones (Hyde's annoyed they're this far down on the list)

Eric: As Hall and Oates would say, well...I can't go for that. No can do!
*The gang collectively groans*
*****
Notes:
1. Not too familiar with Rush or Air Supply. Did a very brief listen; the latter sounds like something my Eric-y dad might listen to. Plus, KISS and stuff of the like (AC/DC, Alice Cooper, and maybe Pink Floyd, etc) was absolutely just a teenage phase (kind of like my dad's somewhat brief foray into similar stuff at around that age). Also, I'm omitting REO Speedwagon, because they are the literal worst.
2. Still, kind of an honorable mention to Pink Floyd (he doesn't completely grow out of it).
#that 70s show#that 90s show#eric forman#donna pinciotti#steven hyde#jackie burkhart#my essays#hall and oates has the most eric-y cadence ever#plus weezer but i'm not going beyond the early 90s here#teh music

0day hcs??? 🤨🤨
-cal has better taste in music than andre; andre is stubborn when it comes to branching to genres outside of what he's already comfortable with.
-cal inherited some of his music taste from his mother; bands like XTC, supertramp, and the cars all come from what she played on the stereo around him as a kid.
-in fact, cal's family have always been pretty musical. cal himself has been in multiple guitar & singing choirs in his youth.
-andre struggles with his masculinity and not feeling entirely secure in it.
-andre can spend hours and hours on his dinky little computer, scrolling through gore and shock sites. in the beginning, he convinced himself it was to get rid of any squeamishness before zero day. but, he's long past the point of squeamishness now.
-cal also can spend hours hogging the dial-up internet; he's a huge fan of the sims! he's a little sad he won't be around to see the release of the sims 2, though.
-cal is a huge fan of bunk beds and loft beds. he's always wanted one, but never been allowed one.
-andre has a particular interest in the 1995 MURA federal building bombing, and in the perpetrator, timothy mcveigh. through mcveigh, his awareness of the waco siege became more in-depth. he's not sure how to feel about waco.
-andre's favourite movies are fight club and natural born killers. something about the close-knit relationship between the main characters draw him in.
-andre hates the smell of cigarette smoke. his mother smoked when he was a child, and it seems like there's always someplace in the house that still stinks of it.
-cal doesn't smoke, have candles, or burn incense, but he still always keeps his lighter on him.
-andre is incredibly reliant on pencil and paper when it comes to organizing his thoughts. he's far too awkward to make the video-diary thing cal does work, and typing doesn't connect him enough to the words he's making. he has piles of cheap notebooks completely full collecting dust in the garage.
-cal's favourite movies are taxi driver, a clockwork orange and as an honorable mention, the big shave. travis bickle's melancholic lonliness comforts him, alex delarge's dehumanization comforts him, and the strange, contextless-understanding he has of the big shave comforts him, too.
-one of cal's formative memories from later in his teenage years is going to the cinema to watch catch me if you can with his father and his younger brother. the movie interested him, but still, he caught his eyes drifting down to the fire exits and wondering about the acoustics of a gunshot in a theatre.
-andre's pencilcase is handmade from a pair of old jeans; he asked his dad to buy him a new one in the eighth grade and instead his father taught him how to sew.
#zero day#zero day (2003)#mooooom scotts being a fag again#btw i literally dont care about like#dates lining up#i will talk about andres opinions on breaking bad idgaf

My Top Ten Album List: The Honorable Mentions
A while back I did a post on my top ten favorite albums of all time, and while making that list, there were many albums that I was considering for it but they simply did not make the cut for one reason or another. So instead, here is a list of all the albums that almost made it to my top ten list
1. Outlive/Songs of Death and Resurrection by Demon Hunter
For a band that I have only known for a few months, they somehow managed to capture my heart with their aggressive riffs and sweet, genuinely heart felt lyrics. Being one of the first albums I listened to by them, Outlive went above my expectations for a Christian metal band. I was going into Demon Hunter thinking they were going to be one of those incredibly stereotypical Christian metal bands but thankfully I was proven wrong. I was hooked on Outlive and from there went on to their other albums and eventually found my way to Songs of Death and Resurrection. It's a compilation album of acoustic versions of some of their earlier songs and I'm not gonna lie, I kinda like the acoustic versions a little more than I like the originals, but especially for My Throat Is An Open Grave. I still love the original, but the acoustic one is just too good for me to not love it more! Highly recommend these albums if anyone is interested!
2. Creedence Clearwater Revival by CCR
Next we have an album that I could not stop playing all throughout the summer of 2022, Creedence Clearwater Revival's debut album of the same name. I am not huge on the genre of country rock, but I have my exceptions, and CCR have landed themselves a spot in my heart as a favored band of mine. Unfortunately that does not automatically land them a spot on my favorite album list. While I hold a great amount of love this album, other albums were definitely more deserving of that spot. Sorry CCR :(
3. Supertramp by Supertramp
And now we have another debut album, this time by my dearest Supertramp. Being a more somber album than that of their later works, this album slowly crept it's way into my heart. While I love this album dearly, Breakfast In America ultimately won, but I still feel this album deserves some form of recognition, and so in my honorable mentions it goes.
4. When The Kite String Pops by Acid Bath
Next we have an album that I adore to possibly and unhealthy degree but hey don't we all have that one album we would explode upon finding? My fellow music collectors will surely relate to that but on with the commentary. This album was the one to make me fall in love with Acid Bath when I first discovered them, and I genuinely thought of putting both this album and PTT on my list because I simply could not pick between the two. For months I went back and forth between the two albums before finally choosing PTT, but I still love this album with all my heart. I hope someday I can find it. So far it's been years with no luck but I hope it'll get my grubby little hands on it soon.
5. Countdown To Extinction/Rust In Peace by Megadeth
As I stated on the post, these are two of the albums I heavily debated on replacing Youthanasia with. Countdown was the first album that got into Deth and one that I hold very dear to me. Rust In Peace, while being an album that I got into later down the line, is just too good for me to not consider. I love everything from the music down the very artwork of the album! But alas, neither of these albums hold a candle up to Youthanasia, and while many would disagree with that statement, this is my opinion so I don't care 💖
6. Relentless by Pentagram
And here is a band I don't speak of much these days, but I still listen to them and love them all the same. Relentless by the American Doom metal band Pentagram has had it's hold on me now for the past 5 years and it's still going strong. I love this album and this band to bits but I simply didn't love it enough it seems. It's fantastic though and I will forever cherish it as for what it is. I love Doom metal and boy do I love Pentagram!
7. Reise Reise and Mutter by (my beloved) Rammstein
I actually surprised myself a little when I went back to my old post and noticed I did not place a singular Rammstein album there despite them being one of my favorite bands. Seriously this band is what reignited my love for music during a depressive episode and man was I obsessed with them during my last few years as a teenager. I would listen to their music religiously and it got to the point were I was literally not listening to anything else but Rammstein. Anyway here are two out of the three of my favorite albums by Rammstein that I hold incredibly dear to me even to this day
8. Screaming For Vengeance by Judas Priest
And lastly we have Screaming For Vengeance that I unfortunately cannot place an image for because Tumblr has an image limit of ten still :/ but my disappointment at this website aside, Screaming For Vengeance has got to be one of my top Judas Priest albums. I don't reach for it as much as I do Defenders, but it's still an absolute banger and holds many of my favorite songs! Definitely one of their best but Defenders beats them in my heart.
This post was way shorter than the other one but that's because those other albums were definitely destined to be on my top ten, so I had no other considerations for their spots. These on the other hand were really hard for me to pick, so I figured I would delegate them to the spot of my honorable mentions.

The fabulous @purplemuskrat tagged me on the following:
"When you see this, post 5 songs you actually listen to and tag 10 of your favorite followers/mutuals!"
Being a breaker of rules, I will list some combination of 15 songs (in no particular order) and people tagged.
"The Load Out/Stay" by Jackson Browne -- A love letter to the crowds that bring the energy to concerts.
"Drowning" by Joe Jackson -- A poignant reminder that no matter what or who you love, there may come a time when you need to walk away to save yourself. Walking away from educational theatre 18 years ago was the best decision I have ever made for my mental health. Coming back from time to time is the second best mental health decision I have ever made.
"You're Only Human (Second Wind)" by Billy Joel -- An excellent reminder that there is always hope.
"Symphony from the New World" by Antonin Dvorjak -- I would always listen to this before every opening night as a director. It was a great way to calm myself for a performance when said performance was no longer under my control.
"Trilogy" by Emerson, Lake, and Palmer -- A breakup story told in multiple parts, with a message that wishing someone well during a breakup can bring one peace.
"He Is, They Are" by Harry Connick, Jr. -- A touching song sung from the point of view of kids marveling at how well their widowed father took care of them (and they took care of him).
"Benny the Bouncer" by Emerson, Lake, and Palmer -- Pure honky-tonk fun with exaggerated cockney accent.
"Take the Long Way Home" by Supertramp -- I think of this song as the first inspiration for me to take up the harmonica.
"Ballet for a Girl in Buchannon (Make Me Smile - So Much to Say, So Much to Give - Anxiety's Moment - West Virginia Fantasies - Colour My World - To Be Free - Now More than Ever)" by Chicago -- An audacious 13-minute song cycle telling the story of someone searching for a lost love.
"Naturally" by Huey Lewis and the News -- My second favorite a capella song.
"Kiss Him Goodbye" by The Nylons -- My favorite a capella song.
"I've Seen All Good People: Your Move/All Good People" by Yes -- Chess used as a metaphor for navigating a relationship.
"A Slow Song" by Joe Jackson -- The live version and ...
"Steppin' Out" by Joe Jackson -- The live version ... both songs have their tempos taken way down, creating a need for the listener to pull information out, to try to hurry it along, only to have to let the music take you where it is going in its own sweet time.
"Elephant Love Medley" from Moulin Rouge! -- I cannot help but sing along with this song every time I hear it. The use of several songs to tell the story of give and pull that each story of love creates is nothing short of magical. (Honorable mentions from MR! include "The Show Must Go On" and "El Tango de Roxanne," not to mention the original Queen version of "The Show Must Go On." And I could go on and on and on and on...

Hi! Fun questions ask - 14, 17, 28, 33, and 38?
Hi! :D Thanks for the fun questions. :-)
14. what’s something you’ve always wanted to do but maybe been to scared to do?
Oh there is quite a few things me thinks. Learning an instrument properly so I could join a band! I would like to learn piano. Maybe guitar? I know a little of ukulele and know cymbals. I'm scared of singing in public but really enjoy it. Teach myself how to dance properly and ride a bike properly lol. I'm not really scared of dancing but, I just never had the chance to learn. I'm scared of riding a bike because I'm scared of falling. I also didn't understand it when I was little. This one is a bit more personal than the others but I would love to get the courage to get job or at least get some sort of money for myself like opening a store on e-Bay since I have a lot of stuff I could sell. I'm just nervous to do so since I'm scared of messing up.
17. name 3 things that make you happy
This is such a lovely question!
1.) My family! :D They are very epic and I love them very much.
2.) My friends on here! You guys are very epic and I feel blessed to know you. :-)
3.) Music because music has bands and some bands make me happy. *cough* SQUEEZE AND SUPERTRAMP *cough*
Honorable mention: video games, mainly sims and ROBLOX.
28. do you collect anything?
I do actually! I collect quarters and various other coins. I have a cool Polish coin. I also collect music memorabilia whether it be records, cd's and my favorite books and magazines! As well as pins/badges. I also collected all of the disks for The Sims and The Sims 2 in box! Just the base game and expansion packs. I do have the holiday edition, special dvd and deluxe versions of the Sims 2 base game. :D I also have all of the Prima Guides for the Sims 2. I also have the Prima Guides for one of the Mario Party games I think it's 3. Definitely one of the Nintendo 64 ones. I also collect books I love books!
33. any hobbies?
At the moment I like playing ROBLOX and The Sims and also Nintendo games! I also like editing videos and I am currently working on a video. I suppose that would include me making gifs and the occasion meme lol. I don't know if this counts as a hobby but I love looking for pictures and videos of my favorite bands... I have also done drawing on paper and digitally in the past. Might get back into that... I would like to get into a few other hobbies like making a fanzine or doing something like learning an instrument and something with sewing! :D
38. fave song at the moment?
I have been listening to 'Goodbye Stranger' by Supertramp on repeat lately, specifically the 1979 performance. That song and video hold a special place in my heart. <3 I also have been loving 'Another Man's Woman' by Supertramp especially the 1977 performance. Another song I have been loving is 'What The Butler Saw' by Squeeze! :-)
This was such a joy to answer, thank you! :D

Faves and fails of SPN (season 8)
Best episodes (in chronological order):
8:4 Bitten - First good episode and the brothers are barely in it. Probably a testament to how i feel about them and the show this early in season 8
8:8 Hunteri heroici - Finally a silly episode, it almost makes the list just because of that. Cartoons. ”I’ll interrogate the cat.” Best job in the world. Cass’s finest moments.
8:9 Citizen fang - A better Benny than when we first meet him. But sooooooo many frustrating moments. The level of hypocrisy from like everyone involved is crazy. ”Winchesters, man.” Turns out Ellen had a point about them.
8:11 LARP and the real girl - Another great silly episode and they are sorely needed this season. Charlie and Dean are adorable.
8:13 Everybody Hates Hitler - Home of the men of letters is introduced, thank goodness. Nothing makes me feel quite so at ease as this place. And a great episode. With retro villans to match the setting. Adam Rose does such a great job. And John DeSantis.
8:14 Trial and error - Surprisingly good episode owed to the side characters (Danay Garcia is h.o.t).
8:17 Goodbye stranger - There’s something about this episode. Oh, it’s probably the horrifying intro as well as the betrayal set to the sound of Supertramp, or, y’know it could be MEG and my huge crush on her. Sam confiding in Meg (bit of a pattern). MEGSTIEL. Omg. What I would give to have that convo be out of Naomi’s influence. I can’t handle Cass this season, I know it’s not his fault but... Dean begging. Gosh. *sigh* Fine. Destiel. But Meeeeeeeg! No! :(
8:18 Freaks and geeks - Goooooood episode. The clash of ideas surrounding hunting, the ambivalence the brothers feel about being forced into the life so early vs the inevidability of it for the kids, the option of letting go. The horror of what these guys are doing. Also the idea of a hunter dream team is kind of cool.
8:19 Taxi Driver - Bobby! Nuff said. Also Benny goes out with a bang.
8:20 Pac-Man Fever - Charlie! Dream-setting! What is happening? I don’t care, it’s awesome! And Manny Jacinto! Already typecasted as an idiot. ”Don’t quote me to me!” And ”I hate that thing... I want one.” And them saying goodbye. ”I love you.” ”I know.” Hugs all around. Cuddles is off the charts! Love it. I feel like one of the reason this show works for as long as it does is because of the brothers. A bit obvious, I know, but it’s why I forgive it for tons of shit, and it’s why nothing works w/o them, when they have issues w each other nothing feels right.
Worst episodes (in chronological order):
8:5 Blood Brother - Look, it’s not that I dislike Benny, but I kinda do, especially based off this episode; he’s seeking revenge based on the assumption that his sire killed his woman. Then he finds her alive (sort of) but prefers her fridged. Fuck you man.
8:7 A little slice of Kevin - First: I don’t care much for Kevin, his importance to the story is unearned. The show is lucky they keep Mrs Tran on as long as they do. Also the torture scenes of Alfie and Kevin make me sick, no love for Crowley this season.
8:10 Torn and frayed - More torture porn. Fucking hate that shit. And the torture of having to watch Amelia and Sam faking that they’re important to each other. Ugh. At least Dean and Cass try to save Alfie. But like generally; my issue w the first half of this season is I got no one to really root for. Everybody is just so unepic.
8:15 Man’s best friends with benefits - I don’t know about this. I’m intrigued by this world, but I sort of feel like this is one of those in show-pilots, and... i don’t know. Plus y’know friction between the brothers, not here for it. Ultimately I don’t care about this.
Honorable mentions:
The use of Soundgarden in Southern comfort, Soundgarden is always a win.
Dean trying to take care of Sam when he’s undergoing the trials. More of that shit plz!
Castiel’s Biggerson’s scheme- brilliance! ”There are just so many Biggerson’s.”
Also Crowley’s elaborate Truman-scenario w Kevin.
I feel like this season is kinda the boys going proactive; they’re instigators. I like it.
Dean checking out the goth chick in As time goes by - gold star!
Dishonorable mentions:
Sam’s been done one dirty: it is ooc for him to not go after at least Kevin after season 7’s finale.
And the lack of thought, time and emotion put into his so-called love story is frigging embarrassing. Dean gets a real, believable love story and Sam gets this out of a bottle soapy bullshit? Sad backstory equals character depth right? It’s one of the worst written ”romantic” storylines I’ve ever witnessed, it’s like the writers just took every romance trope they could find regardless of subgenre (Yeah- romcoms, romantic tragedies, contemporary angst, erotica - they’re not all the same, idjits) and threw them in the blender together. What’s better than one meet cute? Two meet cutes! Nothing says romance like an endless string of unconnected obstacles, right? *deep sigh* Listen, I *wish* SPN had more love stories in it, it needs it, and the fact that it doesn’t have ’em is why the show will never rly be a true contender for me; But not like this, i don’t want ~romantic~ as some sort of appendix, but as *real* sub plots or main plots even, like in Buffy. #willdiemadaboutit
+The use of bronzer this season is out of hand.
Summing up:
Structure this season is a bit chaotic.
The season gets good about halfway through. There are several things the matter w the first half. Sam’s ooc behavior and the fact that we’ve had almost no time w Kevin but the stakes forced onto him are so high. The second half makes up for it introducing The Men of Letters HQ, heartbreak, folly, love and friendship that feels real.
There is something that irks me about the ending too though: something about Dean’s gaze, his temporal blindness: when he is angry with Cass (which he has a complete right to be btw) but refuses to deal w his anger, claiming he can only trust Sam, leaving Cass behind to try to win his affections back thus making him vulnerable to Metatron’s meddling. And Sam points this behavior out in the season’s finale ”What happens the next time I let you down?”. There is a judgy quality to Dean which can make or break the other characters and it’s a quality he should try to take more responsibility for. That aside: the finale is very strong, one of my favorite ones actually, for the sheer emotion of it.

Note
Rock me, more than this, and what makes you beautiful!
Rock Me: List your ten favorite bands.
Oh man. That’s hard. In no particular order:
U2
One Direction
twenty one pilots
ELO
Panic! at the Disco
ABBA
The Bee Gees
Supertramp
The Traveling Wilburys
The Clash
(Honorable mentions: Jigsaw, The Waterboys, CSNY, America, 10cc, The Killers, Five for Fighting)
More Than This: What's the bravest thing you ever did?
It’s kinda stupid, and I’ve probably done things that are braver, but the first thing that comes to mind is last September when I told my advisor some stuff I never thought I’d have the guts to say to him, just about how much I look up to him and a few other things, and I was absolutely terrified of fucking it up somehow or how he’d receive it etc. It turned out to be one of the best things I’ve ever done, but it was ridiculously stressful and I still kinda can’t believe I worked up the nerve
What Makes You Beautiful: Name three things you love about yourself.
Ahhhh... obviously my banger taste in music, my passion for history, and my stubbornness determination
